Adelani is committed to presenting frameworks of music, art and dance with integrity and authenticity. Adelani continues and transcends a rich legacy of the Arts in folklore.
Adelani is an organization of talented professionals with expertise in performing on grand theatre stages and providing arts in education to students and adults throughout the U.S. and abroad.
Noelani started her dance training with The Repertory Dance Company of East Harlem in 1990, while attending River East Elementary School. Noelani started her dance training with The Repertory Dance Company of East Harlem in 1990, while attending River East Elementary School. Noelani was able to balance her academic and artistic aspirations, while attending Central Park East Secondary School. Noelani was trained in Ballet, Modem/Jazz, Tap, and West African Folklore, with the dance company. The Repertory Dance Company, under the direction of Dorothee-Jaxon Alexander, was like a second home to her while growing up. Character developments, leadership skills, as well as artistic development were three things the company stood for. She was chosen to perform overseas in Auriallac, France in 1994, the dance company's second European tour. In 1995, she received the Student-Teacher Trainee Award. In 1999, she had the honor of being the first recipient of the Cathy Yelverton Award for leadership and dedication. She would later use the skills learned from the dance program and applied it to her position as Co. Artistic director of The Bambara Drum And Dance Ensemble. Her performing experiences include Passing Ancestral Knowledge Along (PAKA), and the Ebenezer Dance Company. She has taught classes throughout Community School District 4, and has performed on stages such as, Aaron Davis Hall, Brooklyn Academy Of Music, and Hostos Community College. Noelani's many talents extended to The Summer Institute of the Arts, where he served as wardrobe mistress. Noelani gained valuable experience as a teaching artist in Opus Dance Theater & Community Service Inc., and later becoming Director of Cultural Affairs. In 2019, Noelani traveled to Conakry, Guinea, to take part in a cultural exchange. Noelani taught Afro-Cuban and Congolese dances to the professional performing groups in Conakry. Noelani has taught various of dance workshops through- out the Bronx and Manhattan. Noelani is committed to the preservation of dance, music, and song of the African Diasporas. Noelani has been a teaching artist for over 7 years at Mind Builders Creative Arts Center. In 2020, Noelani started her performing arts company AdeLani LLC. Her mission is to combine art, music, and dance into a thematic experience for global audiences.
